Loretta Damon

Ms. Loretta Damon is a Program Advisor for the American Indian Center at Mesa Community College.

Ms. Damon is a proud member of the Dine’ (Navajo Nation). She is born to the Ashiihii; and Todich’ii’nii; To’ahani  and hashtl’ishnii clans.

Ms. Damon earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Masters of Arts in Education from Arizona State University.  She completed extensive counseling coursework at Arizona State University.

Ms. Damon has enjoyed various educator positions as an instructor, counselor and manager with the Gila River Learning Center, Central AZ College, Maricopa Community Colleges and Tempe Unified School District.  She established innovative retention programs for students at all levels.

Loretta’s proudest accomplishment is her employment with Maricopa Community College District. She worked at Scottsdale Community and later transferred to Glendale Community College to set up at program for American Indian students.  She is proud of MCC taking the lead of the largest enrollment of American Indian students in the Maricopa Community College District.

 Ms. Damon is a founding member and a former Vice President of the United Tribal Employees Council within Maricopa Community Colleges.  She researched and compiled “A Scholarship Information Guide for American Indian Students” published by MCCCD in 1998.

As an educator, Ms. Damon sums it up “It’s all about students, empowering and given them the opportunity to grow and learn, because they eventually will be our leaders of tomorrow.”  She wishes to congratulate all those students who have graduated from college!!!   Hozhoo naninaa doo!   May you always walk in beauty!
