The slow loris. Blue-green algae. Quagmires. An Achilles’ heel. Botulism. These are all subjects of inquiry in the broad-spectrum scientific field of biology.

Biology is the natural science concerned with the study of all living organisms, their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, and distribution. It examines life from the smallest microscopic organisms like bacteria, to specific complexes in the human body, such as your skeletal system, to entire ecosystems like an evergreen forest.

The Biology program at MCC covers a wide range of subjects. We offer basic biology classes that explain the primary concepts within the science -- a great fit for any educational path. We also have specialized classes in environmental biology, microbiology, marine biology, and anatomy. If you have an interest in genetic engineering, DNA, and the issues within the biotech field, we suggest our biotechnology and molecular biology classes. As with most laboratory sciences, there’s a wide range of classes within the biology coursework that cover the course requirements required by other programs.
