Transportation & Industrial Programs
On behalf of Transportation & Industrial Programs department, we would like to welcome you to another exciting year at Mesa Community College. This web site is designed to give you an overview of the programs and courses offered within our department and to keep you updated on noteworthy news.
Automotive Automotive Performance is designed to prepare students to be automotive technicians. Emphasis is placed on developing good diagnostic skills. Graduates will possess a minimum of entry level skills. Graduates will be able to pass the national ASE Certification Tests upon completion of the course work. This will supply the graduate with marketable skills to enter the job market. The program is designed to provide "hands-on" experience in a "live" working environment similar to the service industry. In addition to the degree program, five certificate programs are also available. These include: Engine Performance and Diagnosis, Air Conditioning, Brakes, Alignment, Suspension and Steering, Transmissions and Power Trains, and Automotive electrical Systems.
DraftingDesign Drafting Technology prepares students for careers in industry as designers and drafters. Students learn how to make drawings, plans, and CAD models that will be used to build or manufacture the final product. Engineers, architects, and many other professions and industries use the skills and techniques taught in drafting.
Electronics TechnologyTwo of our degrees are for students who want to begin working in the electronics industry as soon as they graduate. These are the ET and the EMA degrees. These programs have a purely occupational focus and include skills most needed by Arizona's industries. We me annually with an industrial advisory committee made up of representatives from numerous local electronics employers, both large and small, to determine the content of these degrees.
ManufacturingManufacturing Technology students are prepared for employment in manufacturing support positions such as Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programmers, CAD/CAM/CNC implementers, equipment maintenance technicians, and product testing technicians. Graduates may also select a curriculum path leading to becoming a supervisor or manager of manufacturing support technicians or production management. There is one A.A.S. degree in this area with three options, Manufacturing CNC, Manufacturing Machining, and Manufacturing Management. Certificates of Completion are also offered in each of these options.
WeldingWelding Technology is a comprehensive program of studies designed to provide skill development opportunities in oxyacetylene (gas) and electric (arc)(mig) welding. Classes are conducted in laboratories that are equipped with modern industrial welding equipment, and skills development opportunities are afforded in advanced welding techniques utilizing tig and mig machines. The optional certificates provide a stepped path leading to the AAS degree and/or certificates/certifications.
