Sociology

Sociology

Welcome to Sociology at Mesa Community College!

Sociology offers a unique view or perspective of the world! Sociology attempts to explain 'why people do what they do.' Sociology examines individuals and their race, gender, age, occupation, religion, and all other characteristics of human beings.

Sociology has many similarities to other social sciences-political science, economics, Sociology, and psychology. But what distinguishes sociology from the other social sciences? The answer is the Sociological Imagination!!!

The sociological imagination opens windows into unfamiliar worlds and a fresh look at familiar words. Sociology studies all forms of human behavior and interaction. The sociological imagination not only looks at the outside world, it enables its users to examine their own world in a different light. Using the perspective of the sociological imagination casts a new light that enables you to gain a new vision of social life.
