Art
The mission of the Art Department is to support a learning environment that encourages visual literacy, promotes the aesthetics of cultural diversity, enhances the quality of life, and provides our students with the opportunity to develop the skills and techniques necessary to be successful in the field of art.
Art The many fields of Art provide many outlets for all skill levels and interest. We offer classes in jewelry making, website design, printmaking, intaglio, painting, drawing, color theory, design, and compostion. We seek to devlop an understanding of how art infuses all areas of our lives through modes of color appearances, including light and effects in design and theory of design. We have something for everyone!
Art HistoryArt History develops an understanding and enjoyment of art through study of painting, sculpture, architecture design, photography, and decorative arts. Emphasis on contemporary topics and cultural diversity in the arts.
Digital ArtsDigital Arts teaches the conceptualization, visualization, and production of art using the computer. We help you to develop essential skills, concepts and use of digital media for drawing and painting. We will guide you from concept to line-drawing; use of value, texture, color, lighting, space and scale elements to execute a finished rendering.
PhotographyPhotography classes begin with basic black and white photographic principles and techniques. Color classes focus on basic principles of color theory, camera and input and output techniques using slide film or digital photography. Camera functions and controls are included in all classes. Darkroom experience in film processing and printmaking are also available along with refinement of aesthetic and technical aspects producing convincing images of highest quality. We also offer intensive workshop including lectures, field trips, darkroom and critiques for students wishing to expand and refine their techniques. Both Digital and Analog photography is offered.
