Mesa Community College and the Business Department are committed to integrating and using technology when appropriate. These are some of the technological resources available to faculty.
  • Phone Mailbox: Adjunct faculty that are unable to provide students a work or home phone number for them to call and leave messages, may request a voice mail phone account. After the account is setup, instructors may access the voice mail account from any phone. Please tell the Office Coordinator that you would like a voice mail account. After you provide this number to students, be sure to check it on a regular basis.

  • Email Account: All faculty are required to create and use an MCC email account. This email account will be used by the department and students to communicate important information. If you are a new faculty member, please be sure to provide your name, social security number, and date of birth to the Office Coordinator, or else you will not be able to establish an account until after your first payroll. At this time, the personal information requested is what is used to establish the account. After the information provided is processed, you will be able to establish your email account from the MyMCC web page. Be sure to select a username that is easily recognized by the staff members and students. Please note that MCC email can be set to forward all messages to your preferred email account.

After creating the email account, your email address will be: username@mail.mc.maricopa.edu
For instructions see Creating An Email Account.

The email can be read from anywhere using any web browser. The URL to the email server is: mail.mc.maricopa.edu:8080

The email can also be read from home or work using an email application such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Mail. Instructions on configuring the supported applications can be found on the Technology Support Services website.

  • MyMCC Portal: Your MCC email username and password also grants you access to MyMCC. MyMCC offers various tools, but one of the main features is an electronic roster. The roster includes student names, address, phone, and MCC email address (if one has been created). Encourage students to create and use an MCC email address, so that you can communicate with them and so that they can also access MyMCC.

    The URL to MyMCC: http://www.mc.maricopa.edu/apps/mymcc/

  • Web Space: When the email account is created, a web directory is also created. Instructors can choose to publish their custom web site for their courses, or create an automatic homepage using the HomePage tool in MyMCC.

    Creating an automatic homepage:
      Login into MyMCC.
Click on the tab labeled MyTools.
Click on the Employee HomePage link.
      Select ReCreate My Homepage.
      Click on Submit.

For additional information on this option read: HomePage Creation

Instructors may opt out of the automatic homepage if they have a custom website to load onto the MCC web server. See the instructions on how to FTP your files.

The URL for your website will be your MCC email username preceded with a tilde. For example: www.mc.maricopa.edu/~username/

  • ISP Option: MCC can serve as the Internet Service Provider (ISP) for all faculty using a dialup modem. Call the HelpDesk (480)461-7217) or your Program Director for the modem number. Faculty will use their email username and password to connect. Students need to get their own ISP.

  • Other Tools: There are other electronic tools available to instructors that can help with delivering and managing instruction. Training is offered on these tools at different times. For more information on how to get started ask your Program Director or Department Chair.
    • WebBoard - Discussion board
    • WebCT - Comprehensive Course management tool for online testing, assignment submission, grades and discussions.

  • Technology Support Services: The HelpDesk (480-461-7217) is able to provide technical assistance with these technological tools. Documentation may also be found on their website at www.mc.maricopa.edu/its/tss/ If you are NOT able to get the required assistance, check with your Program Director for additional support options.

  • Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL): The CTL is a resource for your technological and pedagogical needs. The center offers technological training and online documentation on their website at www.mc.maricopa.edu/other/ctl/.
