Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3)

The Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) program is the world’s first validated, standards-based training and certification program for basic computing and Internet knowledge and skills. Successful completion of IC3 ensures you have the knowledge and skills required for basic use of computer hardware, software, networks, and the Internet. Individuals seeking IC3 certification are required to take and pass three IC3 exams:
  • IC3 Computing Fundamentals - covers Computer Hardware, Software, and Using an Operating System.
  • IC3 Key Applications - covers Common Program Functions, Word-Processing Functions, and Spreadsheet Functions.
  • IC3 Living Online - covers Networks and the Internet, Electronic Mail, using the Internet, and the Impact of Computing and the Internet on Society.

To help prepare for the certification exams take the following Mesa Community College courses:
  • BPC100AD Computing Fundamentals (1 credit) and
  • BPC100BD Key Software Applications (1 credit) and
  • BPC100CD Living Online (1 credit) or

  • BPC100DD Internet and Computer Fundamentals (3 credits)

  • After completing these courses, student still need to register, take, and pass
    the IC3 exams to obtain the IC3 certifications.
